Grade Green Beans Coffee

Premium Grade

  • Defects: 6–12 defects per 300 gram sample.
  •  Moisture content: 10–12%.
  • Bean size: Fairly uniform, screen size 14–17.
  • Character: Complex flavor, clean aroma, clear acidity, balanced body.

Commercial Grade

  • Defects: 13–25 defects per 300 gram sample.
  • Moisture content: 11–13%.
  • Bean size: Quite a lot of variation, with some small grains mixed in.
  • Character: Standard flavor, may have slight off-flavors.

Exchange Grade

  • Defects: 26–45 defects per 300 gram sample.
  • Moisture content: 12–13.5%.
  • Bean size: Non-uniform, with many small beans.
  • Characteristics: Medium-low quality, often used for low-priced blended coffees.

Off Grade

  • Defects: > 86 defects per 300 gram sample.
  • Moisture content: > 13.5%.
  • Bean size: Very uneven, many defects.
  • Characteristics: Unpleasant taste, many off-flavors.

Sumatra Coffee

  • Gayo Arabica (Aceh, 1.200–1.700 mdpl) → Full body, spicy, herbal.
  • Lintong Arabica (Sumut, 1.200–1.400 mdpl) → Earthy, smooth.
  • Mandheling Arabica (Sumut, 900–1.600 mdpl) → Heavy body, chocolatey.
  • Robusta Lampung (400–800 mdpl) → Strong, earthy.

Java Coffee

  • Java Arabica (Ijen, Bondowoso – 900–1.600 mdpl) → Fruity, bright acidity.
  • Java Preanger Arabica (Jabar, 1.200–1.700 mdpl) → Nutty, floral.
  • Robusta Temanggung (600–900 mdpl) → Bold, smoky.

Bali Coffee

  • Kintamani Arabica (1.000–1.700 mdpl) → Citrus, clean aftertaste.

Sulawesi Coffee

  • Toraja Arabica (1.200–1.800 mdpl) → Complex, fruity & herbal.
  • Kalosi Arabica (1.200–1.600 mdpl) → Sweet, spicy.

Flores Coffee

  • Bajawa Arabica (1.200–1.800 mdpl) → Chocolatey, floral.

Papua Coffee

  • Wamena Arabica (1.200–1.600 mdpl) → Sweet, clean cup.
  • Amungme Arabica (1.400–1.800 mdpl) → Full body, rich aroma.
